Eastman
is the largest producer of polyester plastics for packaging and is a
leading supplier of raw materials for paints and coatings, inks, and
graphic arts, adhesives, textile sizes and other formulated products,
and of cellulose acetate fibers.
Kirkby being the European Technical Centre for Eastman.
Anthony Sammut works for the Speciality Plastics division whose main
products are copolyester resin. These are clear, tough and
chemically resistant plastics. The materials are primarily
injection moulded, extruded into sheet or blown into bottles.
Sheet extrusion line may possibly be running but if not, the
principles can be demonstrated. Injection moulding can be
demonstrated moulding jars.
4 weeks notice will be needed for any visit.
